Freescale presents KL02 the smallest ARM powered MCU
Freescale introduces the Kinetis KL02 chip-scale package CSP, the worlds smallest ARM Powered® MCU. Available in the ultra-small 1.9 mm x 2.0 mm wafer level chip-scale package, the KL02 CSP MKL02Z32CAF4R drastically reduces board space while retaining rich MCU feature integration. The KL02 CSP consumes 25 percent less PCB area, yet delivers 60 percent more GPIO than the nearest competing MCU.

Given the expansion of the “Internet of Things” (IoT – Internet of Things), which includes a growing number of battery-operated devices, small and intelligent MCUs that enable these devices must ensure performance, energy efficiency and connectivity while size shall be increasingly reduced.
Freescale Semiconductor entered this miniaturization trend with the new Kinetis MCU KL02 – the world’s smallest ARM Powered microcontroller.
The product KL02 offers a great deal of potential for very small products in applications such as portable consumer devices, remote sensing, wearable devices and medical ingestible sensors.
The Kinetis KL02, which measures only 1.9 x 2 mm, is 25% smaller compared to existing ARM based devices.
